MathCategory: Core Classes Do not worry too much about your difficulties in mathematics, I can assure you that mine are greater. - Albert EinsteinElementary MathElementary math skills are designed around a multi-sensory and individualized approach which includes the following areas: numeration, whole numbers, calculations, decimals, fractions, geometry, measurement, ratios, proportions, percents, graphing, and basic equivalents. Single and multi-step word problems reinforce the number concepts being studied, including real life applications. Middle School MathMiddle school math focuses on individualized, reinforced units extending basic operations and problem solving including fractions, decimals, and percents. Students are introduced to early pre-algebra and pre-geometry concepts, as well as applying previously learned skills to real life situations. A Pre-Algebra class is offered to students who complete at least 2 years of middle school math to develop proficiency in advanced operations with fractions, decimals, measurements, proportions and problem solving strategies. The use of variables is also introduced. High School MathHigh School students are introduced to a variety of courses including Integrated Math, Geometry, Advanced Math Applications, Algebra, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus. All math courses are taught on a one to five teacher-student ratio and are individualized according to current levels and learning styles. The curriculum contains math courses required for NC graduation. |
