The Annual Fund is The Fletcher Academy's most visible fundraiser during the year.  Each year, the funds raised are used to help bridge the gap between the amount funded by tuition and the costs of operating the school.  We want to insure that the teachers and programs that brought you to the school maintain excellence, so that together we can continue our tradition of fostering exceptional achievement in students with learning differences.

This year's Annual Fund drive is hosted by the Johnson's, parents of two TFA students.  Please join them in giving to this year's drive at one of the levels listed at the end of their letter to the Fletcher Community.

===================================================

Dear Family and Friends,

I hope this letter finds each of you well and happy anticipating the upcoming spring season. This school year has been fulfilling and it has been rewarding to watch my sons learn and grow within the Academy family.

We are in our second year as a TFA family. At my son William’s previous school, he had become less and less enthusiastic as the year went by, resulting in a very unhappy 4th grader. I found that even with an IEP, William got intermittent intervention at best, and he was not progressing academically in public school. He was discouraged, and we began looking for alternative education. We visited TFA and he proudly brought home a fish he made in art class that still hangs in our dining room. He was ready to change schools and so was I.

Last year he entered TFA as a 5th grader. He quickly became a very energetic, engaged student who loved school and wanted to participate in everything. The change in his demeanor could not have been more dramatic. He made friends and he thought the teachers were cool. He made the honor roll and experienced academic success, and he was very proud of his progress. Meanwhile, my son Lyle was struggling at his high school. In the spring I decided the he should visit TFA as a prospective student, and he agreed. In the car on the way home from the visit, he said more about his experience that day than he had in eight months at the previous school. He came to TFA this year as a junior.

My sons have really grown this year at TFA. They are finding both success and support with everything they do at school, academically, athletically, socially, and emotionally. I was initially impressed with the faculty’s credentials and experience; this feeling grows the more I see them work with my boys. My children are getting a comprehensive education that will prepare them for the rest of their lives, and they are having fun and feeling good about their abilities and talents.

The Fletcher Academy has a simple motto: “Believe…Achieve…Explore…Soar”. The students, faculty, and graduates are making a difference in our society every day, and I am continually impressed by the daily life of the school each time I visit or pick up my happy children. I ask you to consider your family’s experience with the Fletcher Academy and join me in giving generously to the continued success of our special community.

The annual fund supports new technology, instructional materials, and much needed renovations to our playing fields. The enthusiasm for the possibility of a soccer team this spring and the continued interest in providing a safe play area are powerful motivators.

I encourage you to be part of this effort. No matter how large or small, your donation is a gift to our children.

For the school,

Augusta Johnson.
